Topps, which purchased Bowman way back in 1955, revived the name by producing a Bowman baseball card set in 1989. There were 484 cards in this set and they were slightly larger than the current standard (2-1/2 x 3-3/4 inches). The card fronts were simple in design and featured a player photograph with a facsimile autograph and the Bowman logo near the top. The card backs were printed in red and grey with black printing. The backs contained the players data along with his stats versus each team in his league.

This set was released in both wax packs and rack packs and contained a special reproduction Classic Bowman card with a sweetstakes on the back. There were no subsets included with this set.
