The M116 Sporting Life cards were offered to subscribers of Sporting Life paper in the early part of the 20th century. These cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 (inches) but can vary in sizes moreso than other cards produced during the same era. Card fronts feature a color tinted black-and-white portrait with the name and team printed along the bottom white border. A lot of the same poses from the T206 set are used in the M116 set. There are 3 different backs used and all 3 are ads for the Sporting Life paper. These cards were issued in 24 series of 12 cards each (287 cards), sold by mail for 4 cents per series. Each series was distributed in an envelope with a series checklist. |
