Baseball cards were first produced during the late 1800's but it wasn't until the American Tobacco company started releasing the now famous T205, T206 and T207 sets in early 1900's that New York Yankee baseball cards started to appear. These cards were issued with pouches and tins of tobacco and were great of examples of american art.
Along the same time, the Caramel Candy company began producing baseball cards to distribute as a premium with their candy.
It wasn't until the late teens and early 1920s that strip cards began to circulate. Strip cards were one of the first baseball cards actually sold as such and not given away as a premium when purchasing another product like candy or tobacco.
